Troubleshooting: Click-To-Call Lag
Problem
There is a lag from the moment I click on a number within Insellerate to the moment that it rings my phone.
Explanation
Click-To-Call delays within Insellerate are a relatively common issue, though it is very rarely an issue with the Insellerate system. A Click-To-Call within Insellerate by default does not have a delay (calls should be immediate). If you are experiencing a delay, it’s typically because there is a delay from the carrier of the number being used for a Click-To-Call (work phone).
This delay is from when a call is initiated to the work phone until when that phone begins to ring. The below steps will show you how to test for this delay.
Testing
What you will need:
Work Phone: This is the number that you would use for Click-To-Call within Insellerate.
Test Phone: This is your cell phone or maybe a friend’s phone. During this test, you will use the test phone to initiate a call to the work phone.
Stopwatch: Type Stopwatch into a Google search and one will come up.
Test:
Dial the work phone from the test phone.
As soon as you initiate the dial, start the stopwatch.
Stop the stopwatch as soon as you begin to receive the call on the work phone.
The time shown on your stopwatch is the lag that your work phone has when someone calls that number until you receive that call. Think of Insellerate now as the test phone, it would experience that same lag when initiating a Click-To-Call.
Solution
Use a different phone number. See our article on Changing Your Work Number.
Contact your phone carrier to see if they are able to reduce the lag.
