Classic - Call Options: Hold | Mute |Call Transfer

Overview

WebPhone features options to handle calls, including muting, holding, and transferring a call. This article describes the following features of the WebPhone.


How to Place a Call on Hold

Putting a call on hold means temporarily pausing a call while still being connected to the line. This allows you to take care of other tasks or retrieve information before returning to the call.

  1. The Hold button is visible in the bottom menu bar while you are on a connected call. To place the call on hold, press the Hold button.

  2. The Resume button appears in place of the Hold button while the call is on hold. To return to the call, press the Resume button.


How to Mute a Call

The mute option allows you to turn off the microphone during a call so the other person can't hear you but you can still hear them. The Mute button is visible in the bottom menu bar while you are on a connected call.

  1. To disable the microphone, press the Mute button.

     

  2. To re-enable the microphone, press the Resume button.


How to Transfer or Merge a Call

The call transfer feature enables you to transfer an active call to another person within the same organization or to an external phone number. You can also use this feature to merge calls.

The Transfer button is visible in the bottom menu bar while you are on a connected call.

  1. To transfer an incoming call, press the Transfer button.

     

  2. Click the microphone icon to mute the line of the caller. The caller will be listed as Conference Participant at the bottom of the screen. Note: This step is both optional and recommended.

     

  3. Enter the phone number to which you would like to transfer the call.

     

  4. Click the + icon to connect the calls.

     

  5. Both numbers (the initial incoming call and the number to which you are transferring the call) are listed as a Conference Participant just below their phone numbers. The calls are now connected.

     

  6. Click the microphone icon to unmute the line of the caller if you muted it before dialing the transfer number.

  7. To complete the transfer, click the Hangup button to leave the call. The Conference Participants will remain on the line.
    OR
    To merge the calls, stay on the line. All Conference Participants, including yourself, will share the connection. It is recommended no more than ten callers share the line.


Features Available While on a Connected Call

Phone icon

Click the Phone icon to disconnect a single number. You may disconnect as many numbers as you’d like.

 

Microphone icon

Click the Microphone icon to mute a single number. You may mute as many numbers as you’d like.


Hangup button

Click the Hangup button to be disconnected from all of the callers. All of the callers will remain on the line together after you have disconnected yourself from the call.
