Impersonate
Description
The Impersonate feature allows users within an organization to impersonate another user’s account. This article describes:
Organizations can contact the Insellerate Customer Support Team to activate the Impersonate feature.
How to Give Permission to Another User to Impersonate Your Account
You may give permission to another user within your organization to impersonate your account. This is only available for users who have been granted permission to use the Impersonate feature.
Click the User Avatar icon in the main menu bar to open the user settings dropdown.
Select User Profile.
The User Profile popup window opens.
Open the Allow to Impersonate Your Account dropdown list.
Select the users you would like to allow to impersonate your account. You can add users individually or you can click the checkmark to add all of the listed users at the same time
Click Update.
A green toaster in the upper right of the screen confirms the changes are successfully saved.
How to Impersonate Another User’s Account
Click your User Avatar to open your user settings. In this example, we are opening the user settings for Jack Branch1.
Click Impersonate.
The popup window allowing you select a user to impersonate opens.
Select a user to impersonate from the User dropdown list. Only users who have you listed in their User Profile under the Allow to Impersonate Your Account field are included in the dropdown list. In this example, we are selecting Rebecca Kornblum to impersonate.
UClick Submit.
A green toaster confirms that the account switch is successful.
A message showing who you are currently impersonating appears at the bottom of the screen.
The User Avatar now shows that you are impersonating Rebecca Kornblum’s account.
There are two ways to end the impersonation and return to your own account.
Click Switch back to your user in the notification at the bottom of the secreen.
Click Reset. If you have performed work in the account you are impersonating and are in another window, click the User Avatar and select Impersonate to return to the window.
A green toaster confirms that ending the impersonation and switching back to your account is successful.
The User Avatar now shows that you have returned to your own account (Jack Branch1 in our example).
Notes
If you log out while impersonating a user, this prompts a popup window asking the user if they would like to log out. If the user does not respond, the system will automatically log the user out after one to nine minutes. The default time is five minutes; users may customize this setting.
SMS Impersonations
When a user is impersonating an account and sends an SMS message, a small mask icon appears just below the message. If either user (the sender or recipient) hovers over the mask icon, the name of the user whose account is being impersonated appears.
How to View the Impersonate Report
You can view which users have impersonated your account. The Impersonate Report displays the:
Impersonated user ID
Name of the impersonated user
User ID of the person who impersonated your account
Name of the person who impersonated your account
Date of the impersonation
Steps
Select Impersonate Report from the inSight dropdown menu.
The Impersonate Report opens.
Set the parameters (Date and Who was impersonated) for the report.
Click Run Report.
The Impersonate Report opens.
